Talk
with people in career fields of interest.
Speak with a variety of people in fields you find interesting. Most people like to talk about their jobs and their industry. Even if you decide that a job or field is not right for you, you have learned valuable information.

   • Relatives, friends, neighbors, etc.
   • NPCC faculty and staff
   • Alumni
   • Employers

Observe professionals in their workplace. Observe and "job shadow" professionals in their workplace to get a sense of their day-to-day responsibilities, challenges, and work environment.

Experience work first hand through volunteer and service learning opportunities. Test specific career fields by taking on volunteer or short-term work activities. Seek Internships through NPCC CareerLink and visit our Service Learning page.
