Online Course Computer Specifications
National Park Community College uses Blackboard LMS for our online, blended, and web-enhanced courses. Blackboard recommends the following hardware and software minimum specifications to work.
PLATFORM: Windows XP, Vista, Window 7, Macintosh OSX 10.4, 10.5, 10.6, and 10.7
HARDWARE: 64 MB of Ram, 1G of free disk space
SOFTWARE: Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Reader
BROWSER: Windows: Internet Explorer 8 and 9. Firefox 3.5, 3.6, 4. 5; Google Chrome 10, 11, 12. Mac: OS X10.4, 10.5, 10.6, and 10.7
POP UP BLOCKERS MUST BE DISABLED.
MODEM: 55 K minimum internet connection, High speed connection highly recommended. Certain cellular internet services do not function well with Blackboard. Mobile platform support (cell phones and tablets) are not fully supported with Blackboard at this time.
Note: Java script and Cookies MUST be enabled.
Remember, these are the minimum specifications for Blackboard to work. Blackboard will work with a 55 K modem but very SLOWLY.If your instructor has multimedia files in his/her course,these files may load slowly. Having a functioning and up-to-date computer is the student's responsibility and is essential to a good online class experience.
