Subject: Faculty Committee Assignments

Each year, various institutional committees, made up of administrative members, faculty, staff, and student representatives, are appointed by the President. Standing Committees reporting to the President are: ADA Student Needs, Long-Range Planning, and Sexual Harassment. Committees reporting jointly to the Vice Presidents for Instruction and Technical Education are Assessment , Curriculum, Instructional Council, Faculty Evaluation, Library, and Higher Learning Commission (NCA) Steering. Committees reporting to the Vice President for Students Services: Academic Appeals, Enrollment Management, Financial Aid Appeals, Scholarship Review, Student Discipline, and Who's Who Nominations. The Bookstore and Physical Plant Committees report to the Vice President for Financial Affairs.

Standing committees shall meet at least once each semester, with the exception of the Academic Appeals Committee, which meets when called by the appropriate Vice President for specific agendas. (See 9.300.)

Acceptance and service on a particular standing College committee is totally voluntary. Any full-time faculty or staff member may remove himself or herself from any assigned committee by notifying the President. Any faculty or staff member who is assigned to one committee but would rather provide service to the institution by working on a different standing committee may request reassignment by the President. Any person holding faculty status and not receiving a committee assignment may be appointed to a committee upon request. Full-time faculty are required to serve on at least one standing Committee.
